Which platform matters more? LinkedIn or Reddit?
It depends on where your ICP actually spends time:LinkedIn: Best for most B2B founders. Your buyers are there, it's the easiest to start with, and results come fastest.
Reddit: If your ICP is technical (developers, engineers, IT professionals) or actively researches solutions in subreddits. Also valuable if you want to influence how LLMs understand your space.
Slack private communities: If your ICP participates in industry-specific communities (marketing ops, sales ops, RevOps, etc.). Requires more relationship investment but builds deeper connections.
Our recommendation: Start with LinkedIn, that's where most decision makers are. Then add Reddit later to influence LLMs citing reddit threads for questions your buyers are asking. Add Slack if strong communities exist in your industry.

Is Rocksalt for CEOs/founders, marketers, or both?
Both. Many companies start with the CEO, then roll out to their leadership team and other subject matter experts to build their credibility online and increase company awareness.
Often marketing works in collaboration with these executives as they don't have the bandwidth to polish posts, do follow-ups on engagement, review results etc.
I already use ChatGPT or Claude — why do I need Rocksalt?
AI tools are good for one-off uses (e.g. write a post about a topic) but poor at several things Rocksalt does, such as:
1. Doesn't allow for easy collaboration between executives and marketing, which is key to producing polished content consistently.
2. Doesn't have the data feed to surface relevant discussions, or timely post ideas, daily.
3. Doesn't integrate with your existing tech stack, which is essential to making LinkedIn/Reddit a reliable inbound channel.
Many of our customers say Rocksalt is criminally under-priced so if you are serious about LinkedIn or Reddit, you'll likely find Rocksalt to be much higher value than AI.
Does Rocksalt use my LinkedIn account to scrape data? Is it against LinkedIn's Terms of Service?
Here’s exactly what our Chrome extension does — and doesn’t do.
The extension does two things:
- Provides inline guidance when you’re on LinkedIn to help you comment better
- Fetches your LinkedIn analytics data once a day so Rocksalt can surface insights for you.
To fetch the analytics data, it uses your LinkedIn session token — but that token never leaves your machine and is never sent to our servers. Rocksalt has no access to your LinkedIn username or password at any point. If you log out of LinkedIn, the extension automatically stops working.
Most of the other data we find is publicly available information i.e LinkedIn content indexed by Google.
Finally, Rocksalt never posts content or automates any actions on your behalf.
What if I hate LinkedIn?
You're not alone. LinkedIn can feel awfully performative and even pretentious. But if your audience hangs out there it's worth understanding how to raise your visibility there.
The mindset required to be successful on a platform like LinkedIn is to simply share useful information and develop your own thinking.
You have a lot of insights and experience. You are on social to share that information so it may be useful to others and to refine your own thoughts with feedback. You should not care about engagement too much (it's a bit random anyway). If you do this consistently you'll be proud of the information you've shared and feel good about this small contribution to the world.
